Abbey bank – have you been a victim of fraud?
A message to all of you out there who have a bank account (business or normal account) with abbey. Have you had money taken from your account? I have! I got wiped out in December. I have to say abbey are useless at refunding the money, despite their ‘peace of mind’ guarantee. I was told 7 to 10 days and I would get the money back, what a joke.
It’s taken soooo long that it is putting my business at risk. Their online security is absolutely rubbish, the worst in the industry.
If you’re thinking of opening an account with them, then DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT!
Please message me if you’ve had similar problems with abbey. I’d love to hear from you and perhaps we can get together and do something collectively.

In our case, Abbey detected the attempted fraud, prevented it and put a stop on the account. So far, so good.
Then it all went down the pan, fast. Three weeks later, Abbey still have the stop on the account, we can’t access our money, we can’t pay our bills, they tell us it will take a further four weeks to open new accounts, and, basically, the majority of their staff don’t give a *****.
The ombudsman won’t get involved until eight weeks have passed, while the FSA don’t deal with individual complaints.
