The Problem with Fusebox 4+

As a developer I’ve been using Fusebox since it first appeared as a very viable framework. It hasn’t taken long for it to develop into the leading framework of choice for Coldfusion Developers, but its latest incarnation Fusebox 4 and the very new Fusebox 5, hasn’t taken to the mainstream. Why is this?
Well mainly because there is a massive difference between version 3 and 4. Version 4 runs from xml based files, whereas version 3 is pure cfm code. Many companies have invested time and effort in using Coldfusion and plumped for fusebox as the framework. Many have well established sites and given that such sites are few and far between it can be a huge undertaking to make the switch to version 4 of Fusebox.

Many developers have shied away from the move to version 4, and you can understand why.Why move to a new way of coding, having to learn a new language almost when they are comfortable within their current role and setup. I can relate to that, no one likes big change!

Well, I say visit fusebox.org and download the latest version and play… play… play and learn… learn… learn. Why?Well for one thing it might inspire someone to comment on this blog, also because it’s a very good way to learn XML and understand its power.I’m not saying you need to update al your web sites to the latest version, but it may persuade you to use it on a new project. It makes coding and organisation much simpler.
